Description for 2026/27

This module forms part of the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy apprenticeship programme at Keele University.
This module enables learners to further develop their knowledge and skills following their first placement. Within the module learners will gain practical experiences in occupational therapy assessment, intervention and outcome measurement. Students will also further develop their
knowledge and ability when justifying their decision making in contemporary occupational therapy practice.

Aims
This module aims to further develop and consolidate knowledge and skills related to the occupational therapy process. It offers learners opportunities to develop practical assessment and occupation focused intervention skills and to discuss the contribution of the interdisciplinary team within the service user journey.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Study hours

115 active learning tutor led hours to include:
~ 15 hours synchronous lectures,
~ 30 hours synchronous workshops,
~ 4 hours synchronous seminars and tutorials
~ 6 hours of synchronous assessment preparation classes
~ 60 hours of guided independent study (asynchronous)
~185 hours independent study

1: Essay weighted 100%
3,000 word essay based on a case study to include a 500 word individual intervention plan
