Description for 2025/26

This module forms part of the traditional BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy and the apprenticeship programmes at Keele University.
Practice Based Learning A builds on previous programme content and enables the learner through practice based learning to further develop and apply knowledge, skills and behaviours. The module aims to prepare the learner to work in diverse settings whilst also develop transferable skills (i.e. multidisciplinary team working, leadership and communication) that can be applied in a variety of settings and specialties.

Aims
This module aims to offer learners the opportunity develop effective communication methods, They will also demonstrate an understanding of the Occupational Therapy Process and begin to apply this to a specific area of Occupational Therapy practice. Learners will have opportunities to review and evaluate their personal and professional development during this module.

Study hours

25 tutor-led active learning hours which includes:
~3 hours synchronous lectures
~15 hours synchronous practical workshops
~ 7 hours of tutor directed study (asynchronous)
225 hours of placement learning

School Rules

Learners are required to successfully complete all mandatory training, Occupational Health and DBS checks prior to initiating PBLA.
