This module forms part of the traditional BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy and the apprenticeship programmes at Keele University.This module introduces learners to the concept of health and wellbeing with a focus on primary prevention and health promotion. The module reflects the shifting emphasis away from a medical disease model towards a health model based on personal responsibility and prevention ofdisease.
Aims
This module aims to introduce learners to the concept of health and wellbeing. The module will also provide learners with opportunities to explore common determinants of health and the role of primary prevention and health promotion in the context of health and wellbeing. Additionally, the module aims to equip learners with the theoretical principles that underpin common health promotion interventions for themselves, service users and carers, whilst considering the opportunities for Occupational Therapists to contribute to a broad range of positive health and wellbeing outcomes.
Intended Learning Outcomes

1: Group Assessment weighted 75%The production of a health and wellbeing promotional resourceIn small groups (approximately 4-6) learners will create an electronic health and wellbeing promotion resource for themselves, service users or carers.
