This module will help you to develop creative pre-production skills and equip you with the knowledge and capacity to devise, theorise, and plan a full-scale media project (suitable for the option module MDS-40015). Working under the supervision of a specialist tutor, you will have the opportunity of identifying a topic and planning for a major media project. You will undertake specialist research, technical training and undertake review of existing creative practice in your chosen area/theme. The assessment will help you get familiar with industry format pitching and project development processes. Overall, this module will help you acquire crucial skills in media practice research, creative pre-production and project development.
Aims
To enable postgraduate students to develop a sustained professional practice by researching and planning a major media/cultural project.To utilize professional practical techniques within a theoretical/intellectual framework.To develop a media project informed by current theories from the field of media and cultural studies such as those relating to globalisation, postcolonialism, etc.
