Description for 2025/26

There is an opportunity to study towards, and gain, a certificate of competence from a recognised accounting platform (example: Sage). The module explores other relevant growing areas of technology used in the accounting profession allowing the modern day accountant to better support and contribute to business.

Aims
To introduce an increased level of accounting focused technology into accounting studies to reflect the growth of technology in the accounting profession and the business environment. The completion of this module will result in a further independent qualification demonstrating competence in the use of a recognised accounting IT platform.

Intended Learning Outcomes

navigate a recognised accounting IT platform, this will be achieved through the completion of an online accounting qualification provided by an external service provider (Sage or other equivalent) with a pass grade at assessment.: 1
appraise a range of contemporary IT platforms and technologies utilised by the modern accountant. Study may include: cloud computing, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain.: 2

1: Online Tasks weighted 50%
Completion of online accounting qualification (Sage or other equivalent)


2: Class Test weighted 50%
Computer based assessment (online exam)
