It is very interesting to learn about and understand how finance is sourced/generated to support the very wide range of public services enjoyed by all in the UK. This module is strategic in focus and provides an insight into working as an accountant in the public sector.
Aims
Develop knowledge and understanding from MAN-20127 Public Sector Accounting (UK). Looking more strategically at financial considerations in the public sector (sources of finance, effective allocation and use of funds, value for money).
Intended Learning Outcomes
recognise and discuss the range of sources of finance available to support UK public services.: 1,2critically evaluate international development aid in the public services.: 1,2evaluate the role of an accountant employed within public sector organisations (at all levels).: 1,2understand the dynamics of funds versus expenditure in the public sector (volatility of funds and the provision of essential services).: 1appreciate the critical role of strategy in the public sector, this should include the preparation of a business case, and effective collaboration.: 1
