Description for 2026/27

The ‘Organisations and the Sustainable Development Goals’ module aims to introduce and build on existing student knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in connection to their implications and opportunities for organisations. The module intends to apply a practical lens to the multifaceted connections between the SDGs and organisations, showcasing, where possible, how the SDGs might be considered and applied in real life organisational scenarios.

Aims
This module aims to deepen student understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by exploring their implications and opportunities for organisations in a global and local context. Through a combination of theoretical frameworks and practical applications, students will examine the multifaceted ways organisations can engage with, and are impacted by, the SDGs in stakeholder efforts to create positive social, environmental, and economic impact. Emphasis will be placed on real-world case studies and organisational strategies, highlighting best practices for integrating sustainability into core operations and decision-making. Students will also critically assess the challenges and opportunities organisations face when aligning with the SDGs, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to make informed, sustainable decisions in their future careers. The module will foster an interdisciplinary perspective, encouraging students to think creatively and strategically about how organisations can contribute to achieving the SDGs.
