Aims
This module aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of the core functions of a contemporary organisation (for example strategy, marketing, accounting, HRM, and logistics and supply chain). This will demonstrate how various business functions are interrelated and contribute to the overall performance of an organisation.
This seeks to develop students’ ability to apply business theories, models, and techniques to real-world business situations, enhancing student’s problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Class Test weighted 20%
Multiple Choice and Short Answer Questions
A 1-hour class test covering the core theories and concepts introduced in the first half of SEM1.

2: Report weighted 50%
Report Financial Analysis and Decision-Making in Organisations
In this assessment, students are required to demonstrate their understanding of the ‘Accounting’ function within the context of a contemporary organisation. The aim is to explore how accounting plays a critical role in decision-making, performance evaluation, and the overall strategy of an organisation. Student will focus on financial reporting and financial analysis to assess the performance of a chosen organisation, demonstrating how accounting supports other business functions such as Strategy, Human Resources, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. The report should be around 1500 words.
