Description for 2025/26

This module will provide you with foundational knowledge of the sports and esports industries. You will gain insights into both sectors, including marketing, the role of sponsorship, consumer understanding, environmental issues, and media relationships. You will evaluate specific organisations, assess their management success, and reflect on your engagement within these industries.

This module aims to provide students with the core theoretical and applied management and marketing knowledge of the sports and esports industry.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Reflective Diary weighted 30%
Individual reflection
Students will individually reflect upon their own engagement as a consumer (fan, participant, spectator) within the sports or esports industry in 1500 words.

2: Group Assessment weighted 70%
Group presentation on the management and marketing of two (e)sports organisations
15 minute group presentation on the management and marketing of two sports and esports organisations (can choose one sports and one esports or two from the same industry). Students should be in groups of approximately 3 students. Individual marks will be provided, with peer review where this is necessary. The presentation should be recorded and submitted as video
