Description for 2025/26


Aims
The module aims to support student transition into and through level 6. This will include academic and professional skills workshops covering good academic practice; literature searching and analysis, including appropriate use of generative AI and science communication. The module will also support students in reflecting on prior skills, development needs and outcomes aligned with the Keele Graduate Attributes. Further careers and employability support will also be embedded, including aspirational talks from invited speakers and alumni.

1: Portfolio weighted 0%
My Employability Programme
Students will complete the Keele Careers "My employability programme". 24 tasks, grouped into 8 categories are completed online including, self-awareness, career possibilities and decisions, workplace skills, hunting for jobs, CVs and applications, interviews and offers, preparing for work, and career well-being. Completion of this programme also gains an award to add to the students' portfolio of evidence.

2: Reflective Diary weighted 100%
Reflective diary
Students will complete a reflective diary of two entries (typically no more than 800 words in total) identifying and reflecting on their personal and academic skills and development needs aligned with the graduate attributes. Reflections will build on tutorials and workshops across the year and will be submitted via KLE.
