Description of Module Assessment

1: Creative Brief weighted 30%
Creative brief
Students will be required to write a 1200-word narrative and storytelling brief for a virtual world. This brief should take into account player actions, offering guidance through elements such as commentary, cutscene narratives, and other interactive components to help players navigate their next steps

2: Presentation weighted 20%
Presentation
Students will make a 15-minute individual presentation on the virtual world they have developed for the creative brief – the narrative and how players will behave and interact in their surroundings.

3: Project weighted 50%
Collaborative Project
A collaborative project in which students will generate and develop ideas, characters, and settings and make and submit a fully developed single level of game prototype that will involve level design, 2D map making, greyboxing, and other standard techniques. They will work in small groups (about 4-5) but they will be assessed individually. Each of the students will be required to submit a written summary of about 1000 words about their contribution to the project.
