This module develops students knowledge and awareness of workplace related health, linking to various initiatives and health and safety regulations. It aims to develop students ability to apply knowledge authentically into work and learning environments.
Aims
This module aims to develop applications of health and well-being specifically related to places of work and learning with critical appraisal of the design of the physical environment on posture and movement within places of work or learning and its relationship to health and well-being.
Intended Learning Outcomes

Active learning includes: ~33 hours of seminar and lecture learning~ 3 hours of tutorials~ 20 hours of directed learning94 hours of independent study which is student led.
Description of Module Assessment
1: Presentation weighted 60%15 minutes prerecorded presentation on health policy and provision in places of work or learning15 minute presentation with questions based on the pre-recorded presentation.
Students will choose a large organisation (place of work or learning) with data that is available within the public domain, from which health and safety policies and health promotion initiatives can be analysed for interventions available to improve health and well-being of the staff.
Students will prepare a presentation that critically appraises how effective both the health and safety policies and the health promotion initiatives of their chosen place of work/learning could influence health and well-being. Examples of organisations: hospital trusts, large corporations (Apple/ Google), Government, education sectors.
2: Practice Based Assessment weighted 40%15 minute simulated assessmentStudents will complete a 15 minute assessment in a simulated work/ learning environment.
Students will be required to assess and identify the design of a physical environment related to work or learning, addressing issues of health promotion, and health and safety. Students will then be required to identify solutions addressing the identified problems. The simulated environment will be consistent between assessments to ensure parity.
