Description for 2025/26

The applied placement module allows you to use practical taught skills in a professional environment. Offering opportunities to build relationships and gain skills that are crucial for employment and career aspirations.

Aims
This module aims to enable the student to evaluate their personal and professional development focusing on both self and the management of others and thereby to develop and apply skills to effectively and efficiently assess and critically evaluate patient/client interventions in a relevant external setting.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Contribute effectively to integrated multi disciplinary working by evaluating factors that inform and affect social interactions with patients or clients and/or members of the inter-professional team: 1,2
Formulate, perform, justify and modify an assessment and from it, form judgments regarding intervention or skills required to meet the patients’, clients or team's needs with supervision as required: 2
Handle and record information with due regard to professional and regulatory guidance/requirements, placement base policies and legal and ethical requirements: 2
Proactively demonstrate self-management skills by beginning to manage own and others work; being able to plan, organise and prioritise work/activities as well as more complex tasks: 1,2
Critically analyse own performance on placement, while demonstrating the ability to reflect on one's skills: 2

Logbook
(1) identify prior to starting the experiential learning experience, your own personal development objectives; and (2) keep a log of your experiential learning opportunity via a submitted attendance log. This will include details of each opportunity (i.e. date, time, total hours) and a brief summary of the experience.

3 x 750 components Workbook tasks will include: Critically evaluate your performance of a single incident or memorable task (750 words) Critically reflect on how you have developed individual skills during the placement (750 words) Critically evaluate an improvement you would make within the designated placement (750 words)
