This module complements the programme content introduced in Level 4 around introduction to pathophysiology of disease. This module will equip you with a knowledge of underpinning exercise science principles in relation to health behaviour change and physical activity and exercise prescription in long term conditions. There is varied assessment strategy employed in this module to enhance your experience and to appeal to all learning styles.
Aims
This module aims to deepen the student's understanding of long term conditions (including cardiovascular disease, Neuromotor Dysfunction, Musculoskeletal conditions, Mental Health Disorders, Cancer and other linked conditions influenced by growth/development, ageing and lifestyle) and to enable students to relate exercise principles to functional assessment across multi-morbid patients and pharmacological interventions. The module further aims to enable the student to analyse an individual's rehabilitation needs and plan an effective evidence-based rehabilitation strategy for that individual.

Description of Module Assessment
1: Exam weighted 30%2 hours - 4 x 250 word short answer questions (1000 words)1000 word assessment evaluating the link between physical activity and a given long term condition of the students choice. The assessment will comprise of 4 x 250 word short answer questions, these will form the basis of an essay, with introduction to the topic, questions for evaluation and a conclusion.
The students will be given insight to the question prior to the assessment, allowing them to prepare and read appropriate areas. They will also be allowed to bring in 1 side of A4 typed notes into the assessment, the assessment will occur on campus within a computer laboratory facilitated by the school, and students will be given 2 hours to complete the 4 questions.
2: Presentation weighted 50%15 minute presentation10 minutes presentation plus 5 minutes of questions (with case study issued in advance) on guidelines for the medical assessments and treatments of a given long term condition and a comorbidity within the ageing population.
