Description for 2025/26

This module gives you the opportunity to plan and develop an extended creative writing project, drawing on one of the main fields of study during the degree - poetry, prose, script, creative non-fiction; and using such platforms as text-based; digital formats; and community-focused creative practice.
The exact nature of the project will be negotiated with your course tutors but you may wish to produce a collection of poems or short stories, or a longer piece of prose fiction or part of a novel, or a drama/screenplay. You might be interested in working with non-traditional platforms for showcasing your work, or placing your creative practice in a community-focused way.
The project extends over two semesters. In Semester 1, workshops and discussion groups support you in reading relevant works and planning your eventual portfolio of writing or creative practice, as well as offering the chance to get critical feedback on early draft pieces of writing and project ideas. By the end of this semester, you will draw up a Creative Brief, which identifies the scope and intention of the creative work to be completed in the second Semester.
In Semester 2, you will write or create your Portfolio under supervision and with peer support.
