Description for 2025/26

How can we develop a global justice model in today’s world? Conflict, disaster, poverty, epidemics, displacement and climate change, all present
global crises which each disproportionately impact society. Yet are these inevitable or a consequence of longstanding inequalities of colonialism,
capitalism, racism and patriarchy? In this module we will hear a range of experiences from the United Nations through to community-based
organisations to help us understand the root causes of ‘crisis’. Ultimately, we will consider how to transform perspectives.

Aims
This module aims to build upon the Social Justice: Past, Present and Future and Social Justice: Strategic Interventions to inspire, inform and motivate you to engage as agents of change in a transformative approach to global social justice. The module will
focus upon the fast approaching timeline of 2030 for meeting the Sustainable Development Goals and you will learn skills of monitoring
and accountability for governmental responsibility through the international human rights framework to transform their practices according to
the social justice principles. You will engage with social justice actors from the Global South to learn from their challenges and initiatives
to understand how the transformation of the Sustainable Development Goals demands an international and inter-dependent endeavour. You will then apply your learnings to understand how to inform, educate and inspire educational institutions, charities or businesses to
transform their social justice practice.
