Description for 2024/25

This module is intended to form and frame a learning path for developing knowledge and understanding of the changing world of work alongside enterprise and entrepreneurship as a theme that crosses subject and national boundaries. Students will have the opportunity to work with academics, businesses and their peers on a number of authentic challenges designed to enhance their enterprise and employability profile.

Aims
This module is the establishing step of the Enterprise and the Future of Work pathway. It aims to enhance the student awareness of global challenges and the skills needed to develop their professional profile in order to secure jobs and create opportunities throughout their career in the contemporary world. It invites students to engage with enterprise by focusing on live case studies in order to explore ways in which enterprise can enhance and address global challenges positively. Through experiential learning the module aims to foster a range of skills in enterprise, professional development and employability that will be developed further in the subsequent pathway modules at levels 5 and 6.

Study hours

- 24 hours of compulsory online and offline sessions (e.g. lectures/seminars/workshops)
- 116 hours of independent study including group work, assignment preparation, weekly research tasks
- up to10 hours protected slots in semester 2 timetabled as 1 hour weekly sessions for students to work on their group project assignment
