Successful completion of Level 5 Physics
A core module for Physics majors. Use of a variety of library resources and the presentation of scientific information in the form of a paper, poster and talk. A 4,000 word dissertation is written on an approved physics topic and poster and seminar presentations are made.
Aims
To give students who have decided to specialise in Physics the opportunity to investigate in depth a physics topic of their choice. To build on the communication skills that have been developed in previous years. To provide students with the ability to produce a coherent digest of information on a physics topic and demonstrate a broad awareness of ideas in physics.

Description of Module Assessment
1: Dissertation weighted 60%Dissertation 4000 wordsIncluding submission of a draft report and a viva on the draft report.
2: Poster Presentation weighted 20%Poster PresentationThe student will be required to present and defend a poster to their peer group and the Dissertation Committee (duration 15 mins).
3: Oral Presentation weighted 20%10-minute oral PresentationThe student will be required to present a talk to their peer group and the Dissertation Committee and answer questions on the subject of the talk.
