Description for 2023/24

This module draws on the knowledge, understanding and capabilities acquired by students on the Cost &Management Accounting and Management Accounting modules. It is intended to develop their ability to critically assess selected issues in advanced management accounting, particularly at the strategic level, in both private and public sector organisations.
By the end of the module, students should be able to critically assess key aspects of management accounting in respect of issues at the forefront of current research and debate. They will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the uses and limitations of advanced management accounting techniques.

Aims
To build on the knowledge and understanding acquired in the Cost and Management Accounting and Management Accounting modules
To develop knowledge and understanding of advanced management accounting concepts and techniques.
To engender the ability to apply the principles of management accounting in respect of issues at the forefront of management accounting research and debate

MAN-30045 Management Accounting

Description of Module Assessment

1: Assignment weighted 40%
1,500 word assignment / essay (online submission)
Assessment 1 - research or scenario based assignment based on subject areas studied in the first part of the module delivery. Academic writing and academic referencing required.

2: Exam weighted 60%
2 hour closed book exam
Examination (Exam): An opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and/or understanding under invigilated conditions (2 hours). All examinations should take place on campus. All are scheduled centrally by Student Records and Exams.
