Description for 2023/24

This module will be a core module for the new BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Digital Forensics) programme, bringing together relevant forensic identification and investigation material, skills and analysis within forensic science.

Aims
This module provides an introduction to forensic science as a professional discipline in the context of the crime scene and common forensic evidence. It provides the scientific basis for many of the core areas of the forensic science discipline.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Oral Presentation weighted 40%
Oral presentation
Team-based oral presentation. The presentation is 10 mins plus 5 min of questions. The students get an individual mark based on their presentation and response to questions.

2: Case Study weighted 30%
Case Report
Case report analysing results of all semester 1 practical investigations, equivalent to 1,500 words

3: Problem Sheets weighted 30%
Problem sheet
Problems based on statistics workshops (semester 2) . Equivalent to 1,500 words.
