Description for 2023/24


Aims
To provide students with an understanding of advanced topics in cyber security and engage students in an in-depth study of the state of the art of an area of cyber security.
Topics covered in this module include a selection of recent and emerging advances in cyber security areas, network security, distributed systems security and privacy.
The module also aims to develop critical analysis and academic writing skills. Students will carry out a group project in an advanced cyber security topic, experiencing and developing team working skills.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Group Report weighted 80%
Group Report
The students will work in small groups on a project in an advanced cyber security topic. Each group will submit a report (4,000 word equiv.) that will outline the collective effort from the group.

2: Individual Report weighted 20%
Individual Report
Each student will produce an individual report (1,000 word equiv.) explaining and reflecting on their role in the group project, their individual contribution and how they went about it, demonstrating their individual understanding of a range of topics within Cyber Security.
