This module aims to introduce the theory and skills involved in a range of basic radiographic examinations and related patient care, and includes such topics as communication, patient needs, dignity and prevention of cross infection alongside an understanding of the diversity of our service users. Throughout the module, concepts of professionalism and ethics will be considered within current legislation including IR(ME)R, 2000.

This module makes use of blended learning, to include both on-line and face to face lectures to introduce and develop key topics; practical classes to demonstrate and practice some basic techniques; plus seminars and tutorials.Students will be provided with on-line resources to manage and extend their own learning through self-directed study. It is anticipated that study hours will include approximately 63 hours of practice experience. This is derived from a total of 375 hours, averaged across all six assessed modules in year 1.
