Description for 2020/21

This module aims to introduce the theory and skills involved in a range of basic radiographic examinations and related patient care, and includes such topics as communication, patient needs, dignity and prevention of cross infection alongside an understanding of the diversity of our service users. Throughout the module, concepts of professionalism and ethics will be considered within current legislation including IR(ME)R, 2000.

Study hours

This module makes use of blended learning, to include both on-line and face to face lectures to introduce and develop key topics; practical classes to demonstrate and practice some basic techniques; plus seminars and tutorials.
Students will be provided with on-line resources to manage and extend their own learning through self-directed study.
It is anticipated that study hours will include approximately 63 hours of practice experience. This is derived from a total of 375 hours, averaged across all six assessed modules in year 1.

1: Assignment weighted 100%
A 2,500 word written assignment
An assignment of 2,500 words, testing the student's understanding of social and psychological factors relating to health and well-being applied to service users undergoing radiographic examinations.
