Description for 2020/21

Psychology in Education is designed to develop students' understanding of psychological theory, research and practice in education. The sessions will introduce theories and research and then ask students to put this into practice in a variety of ways for a variety of audiences. The module will draw on authentic educational settings and practices to look at the ways in which psychology can be used to improve learning in children and young people.
By the end of the module, students will be able to apply their psychological knowledge in a practical way to enhance educational experiences.

The aim of the module is to introduce students to the application of psychology to education, covering theory, research and practice. The module also invites students to apply knowledge to real world situations which will help them to consider the real world impact of their studies.

Study hours

Classes will involve a 1 hour lecture and 1 hour interactive session to be held once a week. This makes a total of 24 hours
Independent study will involve reading around each lecture and preparing for the essay assessment.
24 hours reading around the lectures.
102 hours preparing for and producing the essay.
