Description for 2020/21

Unfortunately, we all experience distress at times, and our mental health can suffer. What insights can psychology offer? This module introduces the range of mental health conditions and therapy approaches used by counselling and clinical psychologists and some of their limitations.

Aims
To introduce first year students to psychological approaches to mental health and distress.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Individual Report weighted 100%
1500 word written assignment
A written submission of 1500 words with the rubric: "Write an article for a student newspaper on 'Mental Health and Distress'". Further guidance on how to tackle this (include research, critical discussion etc) will be given.
