Description for 2020/21

This module seeks to offer an in-depth analysis of the UK system of government and its politics more broadly, including the constitution; the government; Parliament; parties and the party system; elections and voting; the role of interest groups; policies; constitutional reform; and Brexit.

Aims

This module seeks:
- to offer an in-depth analysis of the British system of government and its politics;
·- to enable students to develop a critical perspective on the debates surrounding the scope, direction and depth of British politics in the areas covered in the module.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Essay weighted 60%
1,500 word essay
A 1,500 word essay - chosen from a list approved by the course team.

2: Exam weighted 40%
A take-home examination
Students will have 48 hours to answer two questions. Each answer should be ~750 words each (1,500 words in total). Exam questions will be released on the KLE 48 hours before the specified date of the 'exam'. Students required to submit their 'exam paper' via the KLE at 10am on the date of the 'exam'.
