Description for 2020/21

This 15-credit module introduces a focus on health and wellbeing across the lifespan from a biological and environmental perspective to enable you to develop awareness of the biological basis of health, communicable disease and how these are managed (health protection) and how the environment impacts on health and wellbeing. This broadens your knowledge and understanding of public health.

Aims
This module will introduce the concepts of public health and wellbeing across the lifespan from a biological and environmental perspective including areas of genetics, disease, birth and death, sustainability, climate change, health protection and microbiology.

2,500 word assignment
A 2,500-word assignment that examines biological or environmental determinants of population health; their role and impact. Students will be given the choice to select a determinant.
