Description for 2020/21

This module forms a mandatory part of the overall BSc Midwifery programme. This module will be undertaken at inception of the midwifery programme. It focuses on the anatomical and physiological adaptations occurring throughout pregnancy of each body system influenced by physical, mechanical, genetic and hormonal factors. Learning will be facilitated through theoretical sessions and directed and independent study.

Aims
During this module, students will learn the anatomical and physiological adaptations occurring throughout pregnancy of each body system influenced by physical, mechanical, genetic and hormonal factors.

Study hours

This module will comprise of 50 hrs of scheduled learning via either face-to-face, online or group work sessions, 100 hrs of independent study comprising 50 hours directed study related to module content and 50 hrs self directed and assessment preparation.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Exam weighted 100%
1 hour unseen examination (MCQ)
This is an online multiple choice unseen examination. Students will be required to answer 40 questions over 60 minutes. The questions will be a mixture of single response answers and multiple response answers.
