The module provides a description and analysis of a wide variety of different theoretical approaches to leadership through a range of blended learning mechanisms together with the use of case studies, journal papers and exercises.
Aims
The objective of this module is to develop the leadership capacity of the student in terms of knowledge, understanding and practice by:- Introducing students to the debates and practices of leadership in the current global world of business- Helping students assess the relationship between leadership and practice by drawing on examples from the private, public and voluntary sector across cultures and reflecting on their own experiences of leadership- Equipping students with effective tools for solving leadership dilemmas facing contemporary organisations - Helping students reflect on and evaluate the relationship between leadership knowledge and the practice of leadership- Providing leadership development exercises

Description of Module Assessment
1: Essay weighted 50%2,000 wordsStudents are expected to write a 2000 word assignment on a leadership topic
2: Open Book Examination weighted 50%2 hr examinationAssessment 2 is a take-away exam which will be available on KLE for 24-hours to answer and submit your answer via a TurnItin File. Although students have been given significant time to complete this exam script, we expect most students to spend no more than 3 hours to complete and submit their answers via TurnItin (with a maximum of 2000 words). Answers should be as accurate and concise as possible.
