Description for 2020/21

This module introduces the principles and practice of project management in a comparative global context. It provides a sound understanding of basic project management tools, techniques and management issues. It focuses particularly on critically examining the cultural, leadership and teamwork issues of managing international projects. Using a combination of a reflective learning portfolio and case analyses, the module explores contemporary topics of international project management including risk, partnerships and contracting, managing projects in emergent economies, project technologies and methodologies.

To explore and analyse contemporary topics of international project management including risk, partnerships and subcontracting, managing projects in emergent economies, project technologies and methodologies.

Study hours

24 hours of classroom time - lectures/tutorials/case presentations.
36 hours of preparation for class exercises and discussions.
90 hours of private study and ongoing development/production of the portfolio assignment.
