ESC-300036 (Exploration Geophysics for the Hydrocarbon Industry).
This module investigates the use of exploration geophysics techniques employed in the search for hydrocarbons, offshore windfarm site surveys and in carbon capture and storage projects, including borehole geophysical methods and the acquisition, processing and interpretation of seismic reflection data. The module aims to equip the student with the vocabulary, knowledge and technical expertise to enter a career as a geophysicist in these industries.
Aims
This module aims to enhance knowledge and systematic understanding of exploration geophysics, particularly those techniques employed in the exploration for hydrocarbons, offshore windfarm site surveys and in carbon capture and storage projects, and to equip the student with the vocabulary and technical expertise to enter a career as geophysicist in these industries.

Description of Module Assessment
1: Report weighted 100%5000 word equivalent report5000 word equivalent industry style technical report detailing geophysical exploration in a particular area synthesising results and interpretations from a series of practical exercises and placing these in the wider context of published geological and geophysical studies.
