i) Average of 55% or above in years 1&2 with no reassessment as a 2nd attempt in year 2; ii) General aptitude (i.e. by application for study abroad, an interview during year 2 and recommendation of personal tutor, relevant year tutors and Programme Director)

Description for 2020/21

This module allows students to complete a year of study related to their degree programme in an approved institution in another country. Such study may include components relating to the learning or further development of a foreign language and cultural engagement, in addition to the study of the student¿s principal subject in an international context. The topics that students will study will be appropriate to Level 5 or higher and agreed between the student and his/her School¿s Study Abroad Coordinator prior to the start of the international year.

The aims of this module are to:
1. allow the student to experience study in another country;
2. enable students to acquire an international perspective on their principal subject, and to build up a wide network of contacts;
3. enable students to appreciate the added value that arises from first-hand experience of the different academic and research approaches between the UK and other countries.

Study hours

Students are overseas on a study abroad year at an approved institution in another country. Their studies are split between directed study and non-directed private study at the international partner institution.
