Postgraduate supporting statements advice session| Monday 18th February|12pm-1pm| Library Training Room

Many students approach writing a personal statement with trepidation- this workshop will help you to overcome this and produce a stand out statement.

Personal statements are an important part to the postgraduate application process, but what to write? This workshop will outline what admission tutors are looking for, how to structure your statement and roughly what length it should be. Ongoing support will be provided by Careers for students making postgraduate applications

This session will boost your chances of securing a job in a competitive graduate jobs market.

In this session we will look at where to find graduate jobs , creative job search techniques and producing effective CVs and application forms that make an impact.

Attending any events where you will be meeting employers? Networking is an important skill you need to develop.

Are you unsure of how to use these fantastic opportunities to full effect? This workshop will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to get the most out of events with employers ands to network effectively.

Teacher training options|Thursday 28th February| 1:15pm-2:15pm| Library Training Room

This workshop will focus on postgraduate teacher training options for primary, secondary and further education in the UK.

University -based and school-based training options will be explored by looking at PGCEs, School Direct and SCITTs. The application process will be explained along with the UCAS application form, the importance of the personal statement, the cost of tuition fees and available financial support.

Keele Internships & placements Advice session||Tuesday 5th March|1:30pm-2:30pm|Library Training Room

Keele internships and placements are on offer to all current students and for those graduating in the summer of 2019.

Opportunities are all year round, either on a part-time or full time basis. Many of these paid opportunities are only available to keele students and graduates, and some of these do lead to extended or permanent work. You will learn how to apply, with top tips and have the opportunity to speak to a recent intern and/or an internship employer. Refreshments provided.

This will be our first Coffee with Employers event of 2019!

Coffee with Employers is your chance to meet employers here at Keele in an informal setting. We run these events 2-3 times a year.

For each event, a number of employers from a similar sector are invited to Keele to discuss their companies, application tips and answer any questions you have, all over a cup of tea or coffee. You can use these excellent, informal opportunities to really find out what motivates employers and why they make recruitment decisions.

The Mountbatten Program is a paid 12-month Graduate Internship and Study Program in New York City. Spend a year in New York with an opportunity to spend a further three months in Bangkok, on the Mountbatten Program. LinkedIn:From beginner to expert|Thursday 12th March|11am-12pm|Library Training Room

LinkedIn could roughly be described as a “Facebook” for professionals. This practical workshop will guide you through the process of setting up a LinkedIn online profile. You will learn key techniques to take full advantage of the many benefits this will bring. By the end of
the workshop you will have the beginnings of a highly effective tool for networking, research and identifying career related opportunities.

Gain an insight into the strategies you need to create an undergraduate or graduate level CV and covering letter, enabling you to create an effective CV and letter for your applications.
