Leah Thorn
Monday 25 September 2017 | 7:30-8:30pm
Staff Common Room | Keele University

Leah is a spoken word poet, who works in collaboration with film-makers, dancers and musicians. At the heart of her poetry is the autobiographical exploration of identity and of issues of liberation. She is published through performance, film and anthologies and magazines in England and the United States. Leah is a 2017 Fellow at Keele University Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences with Dr Dana Rosenfeld Director of Keele Centre for Ageing Research. The Fellowship explores a new interdisciplinary project combining poetry workshops with peer counselling to support older women to explore and expose issues that they face.
Leah will share her poetry through performance and film and demonstrate the use of poetry for witness and provocation, particular in prison.
