Persian Ironwood Parrotia persica 'Vanessa'

Persian Ironwood

Persian Ironwood This is a tree from the eastern Caucasus and northern Iran. Its genus name commemorates the German surgeon, explorer and naturalist  F.W. Parrot. The tree has been in cultivation since 1840 and is grown more for its autumn colours than its shape, which can be a bit "untidy". It can be a useful garden tree as it grows slowly and of course has reliable autumn colours.
