Prunus 'Pink Shell'

A seedling of uncertain origin but one of the loveliest of cherries.

A small elegant tree with slender spreading branches drooping beneath a wealth of cup-shaped delicate shell-pink blossoms at the same time as pale-green emerging leaves in early April.

Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in 1969.

  • One specimen near the old University entrance; Square N2; Tag 4125. Planted in 2009.
