Course overview

Our programme combines an MBA, apprenticeship and the option to achieve Chartered Manager or Chartered Fellow professional recognition.

The programme is designed for professional leaders, with senior management authority and taught in the context of real world practice, through focused modules and learning.

The Senior Leader Apprenticeship (delivered by MBA) offers the chance to develop advanced business knowledge and impact your organisation strategically through focused study and implementation.

Keele University still offer the Senior Leader Apprenticeship via the MBA, as we recognise the value the qualification has to individuals and employers.

The flexible programme consists of compulsory modules and an extensive organisation research project.

Our Research Methods module, develops analytical and research skills, to support completion of the organisational research project.

Completing an apprenticeship enables individuals to apply the learning undertaken through studies in a workplace context, benefiting your business.

In accordance with the requirements of the apprenticeship standards, at least 20% of an employee’s time should be allocated for off-the-job learning as part of this programme.

To fulfil the standards of the apprenticeship, participants are required to complete an end point assessment (EPA) which consists of.

Assessment method 1: Strategic business proposal, presentation with questioning.

Assessment method 2: Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence. 

  • The individual studying the apprenticeship, must be in a role that has their employers support.
  • A 2:2 honours degree (or equivalent) is typically required. Where candidates can demonstrate significant experience, formal qualifications may be waived.
  • At least 3 years relevant work experience, prior to starting the programme.
  • GCSE Maths and English, Grade C (4) or equivalent.

Apprentices will receive support from their employer and from the University to successfully complete their studies. In addition to a University personal tutor, they will have wider support from programme teaching staff and access to the University facilities and support services.

Through the apprenticeship route, learners will receive support from their employer and from the university to successfully complete their studies. In addition to a university mentor, they will have wider support from programme teaching staff and access to the university facilities.

For employers, our apprenticeships team will provide dedicated support with all aspects of apprenticeships. You will also be regularly engaged with our academic team through tripartite review meetings.
