Our BSc Data Scientist Degree Apprenticeship is designed for professionals in the private, public or third sector who wish to develop extensive, industry-relevant expertise in data science that can be applied directly to their work.

The Data Scientist Degree Apprenticeship is designed for professionals in the private, public or third sector who wish to develop extensive, industry-relevant expertise in data science that can be applied directly to their work.

Data is revolutionising organisations, and businesses that leverage the advanced analytical and technical skills of their employees see this pay off in commercial agility, efficiency, and foresight. The apprenticeship can be fully funded through the apprenticeship levy, which supports work-focused, university-provided studies in data science.

Apprentices completing this programme can expect to work as leaders in analytics and data science within their organisations, driving forward strategy and implementing advanced software using their deep understanding of the principles and techniques of modern data science and strong technical skills in computing.

Our programme comprises industry-focused modules underpinned by core skills in programming, statistics, maths for Data Science in addition to an interdisciplinary approach with embedded ethics and professionalism throughout. Modules include: data science, statistics and calculus, Python programming, data visualisation, databases, software engineering, data analytics and a variety of advanced topics including machine learning, artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

In the final year, apprentices also complete a significant project in data science and an end point assessment.

6-7 week-long blocks per year plus online learning

Duration: 36-48 months

Normally three A-levels at grades BBC or above; 32 points International Baccalaureate or BTEC DDM.

Grade 4 [C] in Mathematics and English at GCSE level or equivalent is also required.

In addition to a University mentor, they will have wider support from programme teaching staff and access to the University facilities and support services.

For employers, our Apprenticeships Team will provide dedicated support with all aspects of apprenticeships. You will also be regularly engaged with academic team through tripartite review meetings.
