Research and scholarship

My scholarship roles include being the Admissions tutor and Academic Conduct officer for the School of Allied Health Professions. I am also a University Chairperson for Student Discipline.
My research interest lies in the area of the Physiological / Anatomical impact of physical restraint techniques as applied to restrained individuals. The purpose of my restraint research is to reduce where possible the physical, psychological and emotional impact of physical restraint i.e. rescue risk of harm and/or death. My research has led to the development / adaptation of restraint techniques that have made physical restraint less painful and less stressful for both those restraining and those being restrained.

Teaching

My main areas of teaching are Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Physical activity and exercise, and Behaviour Change.
