Biography

After qualifying from Nottingham School of Physiotherapy in 1992, Helen worked clinically, and after completing rotational posts she specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy for seventeen years, at West Park Hospital, Wolverhampton. From 2005, Helen worked as an Extended Scope Practitioner in an Orthopaedic Clinical Assessment Service.

During her time as a clinician, whilst she had a special interest in the management of patients with long term pain, Helen's real passion was for student education. She was a Keele Practice Educator for over fifteen years and was also involved in both the pilot Accredited Clinical Educator (ACE) scheme and Re-Accreditation scheme where she gained Accredited Clinical Educator (ACE) status.

Helen joined the clinical team at SAHP in 2014, as a Practice Experience Support Tutor. Within this role, she has developed a further interest in different teaching and learning theories, models of practice placement supervision and educator training and was awarded an MA in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education in October 2018.

Helen is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), a fellow of the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and a registered physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
