Projection with Kwanzaa Collective, Forest of Light - Keele University Chapel, Thursday 20 October, 7:30 – 9pm

As part of a programme for Black History Month, we are excited to welcome you to an outdoor screening taking place on the side of the University Chapel.

‘Kwanzaa Collective UK*’ showcases the work of black and brown artists living and working in Staffordshire. Building on the themes of Africa 54 a programme of events that explore the history, culture, fashion, and art of the 54 countries in Africa and including content featured in the 2020 ‘Strong, British and Black' exhibition. Using film, photography, painting, poetry, sculpture and digital art, the artists explore the themes of the exhibition individually, while looking at how they interact. What does it mean to be a strong Black woman? What does it mean to be strong and Black? What does it mean to be Black British in a country that often considers you Black in Britain?

The projection event will feature visuals from Kwanzaa Collective UK * Artists and work from the Africa 54 programme.

The screening will commence at 7:30pm and will run on loop a number of times between then and 9pm. Entry is FREE and you can drop by at any time between the screening hours.
