"From the Falklands conflict to Brexit: The day-to-day role of a British Career Diplomat"

Mr Carter joined the Diplomatic Service in 1976 and has worked in Paris ,Bogota, New York, Bonn, Bangkok and Bratislava. He and his wife, Carolyn Davidson, also a career diplomat, were then appointed as Britain’s first ever job-sharing heads of mission, serving in Zambia, Guatemala and Honduras, and is now accompanying his wife on a posting to Osaka, Japan. He has also been responsible for Britain’s global consular policy and worked on the 2012 London Olympics.
