Threading Time Exhibition

Sewing the temporal rhythms of creativity

Clare Holdsworth

[T]he study of time does nothing but return us to ourselves

Carlos Rovelli The Order of Time, 2018

In threading time textile artist and social geographer, Clare Holdsworth, unpicks fundamental questions about time:

Why are we overwhelmed by time and how can we resolve this?

How do we value time?

How do we spend time to learn new skills and develop practice?

How does time flow between past, present, and future?

What are the barriers to starting and finishing projects?

Clare uses techniques of machine and hand embroidery, quilting, appliqué, fabric dyeing and button making to create fabric pieces that engage with our experiences and interpretations of time.
