Configuring eduroam for Windows 7

If you have previously connected to KeeleWifi, PublicWifi, visitor_commerical, eduroam you will need to remove those saved wireless profiles before trying to connect.

 

> Ensure that your wireless connection is switched on

> Click on the Network Notification icon

> Select eduroam from the list of wireless networks available and click Connect

> You will then be asked to authenticate to the network

> Username: Enter your Keele Email Address

> Password: Enter your Keele IT Password

> Click OK

> When prompted 'The connection attempt could not be completed', click Connect

> You should now be connected to eduroam.


Troubleshooting eduroam for Windows 7


If you have been unsuccessful in attempting to connect to eduroam following the instructions above,
please following these steps:

> Click on the Network Notification icon

> Click on Network and Sharing Center

> Select Set up a new connection or network

> Select Manually connect to a wireless network

> Set the Network Name to eduroam

> Security type needs to be set to WPA2-Enterprise

> Encryption type should be AES

> Click Next

> Select Change connection settings

> Select the Security tab

> Set Security type to WPA2-Enterprise

> Set Encryption type to AES

> Click Settings

> Tick Validate server certificate and Connect to these servers

> Enter radius.keele.ac.uk

> Tick AddTrust External CA Root

> Tick Do not prompt user to authorize new servers or trusted certification authorities

> Make sure the Authentication method is set to Secured password (EAP-MSCHAPv2)

Click Configure...



>
Untick Automatically use my windows logon name and password

> Click OK, then click OK on the Protected EAP Properties window

> Click on Advanced settings

> Tick Specify authentication mode

> Select User authentication

Click Save credentials

Enter your Keele Email Address for your username

Enter your Keele IT Password for your password

> Click OK, then OK on the other windows until you see the Network & Sharing Center window

> You should now be connected to eduroam

Troubleshooting - Remove wireless profiles

If you have previously been connected to keele, KeeleWifi, PublicWifi or eduroam you will need to remove these profiles.

 

> Click on the network notification icon, then select Open Network and Sharing Center

> Select Manage Wireless Networks

> Select keele, KeeleWifi, PublicWifi, eduroam

> Select Remove (repeat this step until you have removed each of the above listed wireless networks from the list)

> Go back to the instructions to connect to eduroam
