Brief Outline of Visit Day

Please note the December Visit Day will follow a different timetable.


The day will run from 9.30am till 3.30pm.

There will be a chance to attend the Why Keele?, Money for Students, Keele Student Experience and Parents’ Session talk along with a chance to visit the information stands and have a tour of campus and visit the halls of residence.

Academic schools will be open in the afternoon, offering an opportunity to meet with academic staff and to find out about the programmes of study. 

Student Ambassadors will be available to speak to on the day and will take visitors on short tours of the centre of campus and to the accommodation. 

 

The February and March Visit Days will follow the timings below:

Reception - Chancellor's Building


Tour - Look around the campus (Times: 10.00am - 3.30pm)
Duration: allow 40 minutes
Meeting point: foyer in the Chancellor's Building

Keele has one of the UK's most beautiful university campuses. Student ambassadors will leave the Chancellor's Building at regular intervals to take visitors on short tours of the centre of campus. The tours will not go inside any buildings. Instead, visitors are encouraged to visit the Library, Sports Centre, Keele Hall, Art Gallery, and other areas of campus at their leisure during the day. Your programme sent to confirm your booking will include a map, and self-conducted tour leaflets will be available from the reception desk on the day.

This is an excellent opportunity to obtain detailed course information, to get a feel for the atmosphere in the School and to meet the members of staff who would teach you during your time at Keele.

Some Schools will host extended programmes with taster sessions and tours that will require booking. Details of these are contained in your Visit Day booklet, if applicable. You can either make your own way to the School or come to the reception desk in the Chancellor's Building, where a guide will be available to show you the way.


Talk - Why Keele? (Times: 10.15am; 12.15pm; 1.45pm)
Duration: 45 minutes
Venue: Westminster Lecture Theatre, Chancellor's Building

The talk emphasises what Keele can offer for you, including the advantages of Keele's distinctive curriculum. In addition, the talk will describe the facilities on campus, including accommodation and the support services that exist for students.


Talk - Careers Talk (Times: 11.00am; 1.45pm)
Duration: 30 minutes
Venue: Room CBA1.080/081, Chancellor's Building

Delivered by a careers adviser, this talk will give an overview of what happens to Keele students when they graduate. It will also look at what employers want and how to develop the skills and knowledge needed for the world of work.


Talk - The Keele Student Experience (Times: 11.15am, 12.15pm; 1.15pm)
Duration: 45 minutes
Venue: The Ballroom, KeeleSU Building

The talk will take an upfront look at what it's really like to be a Keele student. The hub of social life at Keele revolves around the KeeleSU. Visitors are encouraged to come and view the place where they will spend much of their time outside of their studies. It is also helpful to get a feel for the support and representation the SU provides for students all year round.


Talk - Foundation Year (Time: 12.00pm)
Duration: 45 minutes
Venue: Room CBA1.072, Chancellor's Building

Students interested in one of the Foundation Year programmes should attend this talk.


Talk - Student Funding Talk (Times: 10.30am; 12.15pm; 2.45pm)
Duration: 40 minutes
Venue: Room CBA0.061, Chancellor's Building

A brief guide to student funding, bursaries and scholarships, plus typical outgoings, sources of funding, hints and tips on staying in control.

Please note that this talk is not applicable for international students.


View - Student Accommodation 
Duration: allow at least 45 minutes
Venue: details in additional programme information available at registration

A number of rooms of varying styles and price will be available for students to visit throughout the day. Keele has five halls of residence and each contains similar facilities, but all have their own character. Staff from Accommodation Services will be on hand to answer your questions on catering and accommodation. Feel free to make your own way to any of the rooms listed, using the map provided, and meet with the current students opening their rooms to view. A mini bus shuttle will be available to take visitors to Hawthorns Hall in Keele Village.


Talk - Study Abroad (Times: 11.30am; 1.15pm)
Duration: 30 minutes
Venue: CBA0.061, Chancellor's Building

Almost any student at Keele has the opportunity to study abroad at one of over 50 partner universities across North America, Australia, Europe, Scandinavia and Japan. Keele's Study Abroad Adviser will lead a session that will describe the opportunities available to Keele students and discuss the many advantages of participating in the programme.


Talk - Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (Time: 1.15pm)
Duration: 30 minutes
Venue: CBA1.072, Chancellor's Building

What are you going to do next summer? What are you going to do when you graduate? Train to teach English to speakers of other languages as part of your degree course and gain a recognised qualification which could see you teaching in the UK or abroad by the end of your second year. Previous students have worked in UK summer schools as well as countries such as Spain, Thailand and Colombia.


Talk - Sport at Keele (Times: 11.00am, 12 noon, 2.30pm)
Duration: 30 minutes
Venue: Gymnasium, Sports Centre

Information about the sporting opportunities offered through the Sports Centre and Athletic Union.


T‌alk - Parents and Guardians Talk (Times: 12 noon; 1.00pm)
Venue: DH063, Dorothy Hodgkin Building

A session for parents’ and guardians’ to find out more about what makes Keele distinctive and the support offered to students. There will be an
opportunity for questions and to hear from our Parent Ambassadors. Complimentary refreshments will be available before and after the session.


Talk - Electives Talk (Time: 11.30am)
Venue: CBA1.072, Chancellor's Building

Where possible, we offer you the opportunity to tailor your degree to suit your own interests and aspirations via elective modules. Find out about electives and how you can use them to both strengthen your knowledge in your chosen degree subjects and increase your employability.


Talk - Languages for All (Times 12.30pm)
Duration: 30 minutes
Venue: CBA1.080, Chancellor's Building

An overview of studying languages at Keele in conjunction with your principal subjects.


Visit - Information Desks (Time: 10.00am - 3.30pm)
Venue: Exhibition Suite, Chancellor's Building

There will be Information Desks on accommodation and eating on campus, Admissions, Study Abroad opportunities, the Careers Service, the KeeleSU, the Athletic Union, the local area and student finance. Staff from the Disability Services Unit will be available for visitors to talk to.
