Academic Sessions
Some Academic Schools have invited their applicants to an extended programme of activities and these are outlined below.
NB It is essential that you book to attend the main Visit Day event you have chosen, using the log in details which will be provided with your invitation booklet. Then, in addition, if you are planning to attend one of the talks or taster sessions listed below, and the School has indicated booking is required, this should be done separately using the details provided.
If you are unable to arrive in time for these sessions, you will still be able to visit the Schools later in the day.

School of Physical and Geographical Sciences
Applied Environmental Science, Environment and Sustainability, Geology, Geoscience and all Geography Programmes
You are invited to attend a welcome talk which will be given at 10.15-10.45am and also at 1.00-1.30pm, followed by subject specific activities and the opportunity to talk to staff and students. It is advised to book in advance to guarantee your place. Please make the booking for both the main Visit Day event and the School programme through e-vision using the log-in details provided.
Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry, Astrophysics and Physics and Forensic Science
Applicants are invited to attend subject specific talks and activities throughout the day which will start from 10:00am. There will also be opportunities to have tours of the facilities and talk to staff and current students. It is advised to book in advance to guarantee your place. Please make the booking for both the main Visit Day event and the School programme through e-vision using the log-in details provided.
School of Law
At the weekend events the School of Law are offering a law teaching taster session between 12.00 noon-1.00pm. This session will take place in Chancellor’s Building 1.102, which is designed to give you a real insight as to what it will be like to study Law here. This is designed for students only – parents are welcome to the other general talks and to meet staff and students. If you would like to take part in the Teaching Taster Session, then we would be grateful if you could email us on law.admissions@keele.ac.uk in order to plan the numbers effectively. Please note, there will also be talks taking place in CBA1.102 at 11.00 am and 2.00 pm, as well as drop-in session at 12 noon, which everyone is welcome to.
On Wednesday 20 February the School will offer a Law talk at 2.00pm, followed by a teaching taster session at 3.00pm (in CBC1.030). Those unable to make the taster session can attend a final drop-in session from 3.00 - 4.00pm in CBA1.102.
School of Computing and Mathematics
Single Honours Maths
Applicants for Single Honours Maths are invited to drop-in from 10.00am, MacKay Building 2.42, to meet with staff and students for refreshments before the first talk at 10.30am. Following the “Maths at Keele” talk visitors will have the choice of two Maths Jam Talks, where staff will demonstrate how Maths can be applied in novel and interesting ways. From 12.15pm there will be a free buffet lunch in Colin Reeves Building 114, with our staff and some of our current students, followed by a tour of campus. From 1.45pm staff and students will show how Maths can be fascinating, fun and unashamedly entertaining! You can also take this opportunity to ask any final questions over refreshments.

School of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy
You do not need to book separately for these sessions; just ensure you have made your online booking to attend one of the Visit Day dates.
Politics and International Relations
Applicants for both Single and Dual Honours programmes in the subjects of Politics and International Relations School are invited to a special visit taster tutorial at 11.00am entitled ‘Has social networking changed the world?’ in room Chancellor’s Building 1.103
Philosophy
For those applying for Philosophy a special visit taster tutorial will be offered at 11.45am on ‘Personal Identity’ in room Chancellor’s Building 1.021.
School of Sociology and Criminology
The School of Sociology and Criminology will be offering talks and taster sessions throughout the day. The first Criminology talk will take place at 10.00am (all welcome), followed by a taster session for applicants only at 10.30am. This will be repeated at 11.30am (all welcome) and 12.00 noon (applicants only); 1.00pm (all welcome) and 1.30pm (applicants only).
For applicants to Sociology, the programme will consist of a talk at 10.45am (all welcome), followed by a taster session for applicants only at 11.15am; repeated at 12.15pm (all welcome) and 12.45pm (applicants only).
You should allow 1 hour 15 minutes to attend a talk and taster session and can book your place at socrim_office@maillists.keele.ac.uk or call 01782 733084 (Criminology) or 01782 734231 (Sociology).
Full details of timings and venues will be given in the programme sent to confirm the date you have chosen before your visit.
School of Life Sciences
Biology, Human Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science and Neuroscience
On our Visit Days we pride ourselves on our personal touch - offering opportunities for one-to-one discussions with staff members. Applicants will have the opportunity to engage in practical work and examples of student project work will be on display. Visitors will also have the opportunity to tour the facilities, and chat to both current students and members of staff.
