Keele International: Study Abroad

Courses

DSC_0714250px Keele University has a great range of subjects open to visiting American students- and since we run on a semester system, it couldn't be easier to come and study! You will be joining Keele University home students for all classes- learning to be an English student in England.

Course Catalogue

The Course Catalogue is provisional. We expect that most of the courses will run in the next academic year, but sometimes a class is cancelled. This is why we ask that you create a short list of eight courses on your application.  The course catalogue has information on classes for first and second semesters- if you need additional information in order to get a class pre-approved, please don't hesitate to contact us

Click here for the Course Catalogue.

We know that you may require further information to have your courses pre-approved. You can click here for the Course Bibilography site. If there is a course that is missing information, please contact us and we'll track it down for you!

Keele-000175250px Course Levels

English undergraduate degrees run for three years, meaning that:

Year One is roughly equivalent to a 200 level course (US)

Year Two is roughly equivalent to a 300 level course (US)

Year Three is roughly equivalent to a 400 level course (US)

Course Credits

You will be taking a full load at Keele University, which equates to four classes a semester. We at Keele advocate that this is equivalent to 15-16 US credits (each class equating to 3.5-4 CR), since this amount is the maximum that a home student can take. Of course, this is subject to your home university's transfer policy. If you have questions on this, please do not hesitate to contact us.

British Culture 101

All Study Abroad students are automatically enrolled on British Culture 101, a 'mini-course' that you will be taking in addtition to your four classes. This module will help you to better understand the UK and the differences and similarities that you will encounter. It meets every two weeks and compares and contrasts British and American cultural norms, focussing on a different aspect of culture every session: university life, behaviour, the media, politics and sports. Each informal lecture will be taught by a different professor, so you will get to know a range of faculty across the University! Students will keep a reflective journal outside of class and work with their peers to complete group work during class. Plus, we'll even provide pizza and pop every session!
