Reasons to Choose Keele
Reasons to Choose Keele
Keele is one of the UK’s largest and most attractive university campuses, with 650 acres of landscaped parkland, fields, woodland and lakes.
Keele is a research-led university, with excellent teaching quality and graduate employment rates.
There are about 600 full-time postgraduate taught course students on campus, and about the same number of postgraduate part-time taught students. The total number of full-time students is about 7,000. This size means that Keele is a genuine community on campus.
The number of permanent academic staff employed at Keele is one of the highest in the UK, which means that there is consistency in the teaching and support.
The Keele Postgraduate Association provides excellent social facilities for postgraduates, and also represents their interests to the University.
There is an induction week for international postgraduates, giving information on academic requirements, support and other facilities, as well as allowing students to settle in at Keele and sort out practical issues before the start of teaching. The International Student Support Officer is available to help international students with any questions or issues they might have.
English language support is available to all students during their studies.
International postgraduate students are guaranteed accommodation on campus, provided they apply for this by 30 June.
Students can apply for Keele scholarships, worth up to £3,000 towards the cost of one year’s tuition fees.
Keele offers excellent value for money: tuition and accommodation fees are competitive and there is no application fee
Why study at Keele?
You will be taught by experts in each subject, with national and international research reputations, so you will benefit from the latest thinking in all subject areas.
When you choose to study a postgraduate course overseas, you are making an investment for your future. You will be looking for a qualification that will enhance your career prospects, and a university that will support you in your studies.
Keele University, which was founded in 1949, offers a high-quality postgraduate education in a safe, friendly and supportive community environment. You will be taught by experts in each subject, with national and international research reputations, so you will benefit from the latest thinking in all subject areas.
Keele’s beautiful, spacious and peaceful campus is the perfect place to concentrate on your studies. Keele has a well-stocked library in the middle of the campus, with online resources as well as books and CD-ROMs, and all the study bedrooms have data points so you can access the Internet from your room. This makes it very convenient for you to get all the information you need for your course.
Postgraduate study is a challenge for all students, and particularly so if English is not your first language or if you are not used to Western styles of education. We have a Postgraduate Induction Week before the start of the academic year, where you will be given advice on learning styles, academic study, where and how to access information for your course and the support available to you. We offer English Language support alongside your Masters course, so that you can improve your English in a structured way and ensure that these skills develop at the same time as you increase your academic knowledge. Employers overseas tell us that graduates returning from study in the UK or USA have often not developed their English skills to the expected standard; through the Keele course you will definitely make an improvement in your language skills.
Most of the support for your learning will be from your professors and lecturers. If you need advice on an assignment, or you want to do some more reading on a topic, your tutors will be very happy to discuss this with you. And as an international student, with different experiences and perceptions, you will add an important dimension to seminars and discussions.
Keele University offers a range of Masters courses, with those in the business and management areas being particularly popular with international students. But whichever subject you choose to study, you will benefit from the intellectual development the University offers and the stimulation of learning with like-minded students.
