Courses Where Applications Are Not Through Keele
Applications for the following courses are not made through Keele:
PGCE
MA/Dip Social Work
MSc course in Molecular Parasitology and Vector Biology
For details of how to apply see the Prospectus applications section.
Making an Application
You should complete an application form (pre-printed or online), and let us have two copies, together with two copies of additional documents which will confirm your qualifications (copies of certificates and transcripts). We will also need two references, from referees who can comment on your academic and professional work as appropriate. Full details of how to apply and an online application form are available in the applications section of the Postgraduate Prospectus.
Entry Requirements
Academic Requirements
All courses have their own specific entry requirements and you should examine details on the course leaflets which can be found in the prospectus. However as a guide, we will normally require a first or second class honours degree in order to consider you for postgradaute study. (Applicants for research degrees will normally require at least a 2.1 degree class.) In addition, some courses will require significant relevant professional experience (usually at least two years) and current professional employment.
Many taught courses value relevant work experience and professional qualifications, and we accept many students on these programmes without a degree. We will be happy to advise you on the acceptability of your qualifications before you apply. Our principal concern is to ensure that those we accept on to our courses are highly likely to succeed - we do not believe it is fair to students, given your investment of time and money, to accept those who are unlikely to be successful.
English Language Requirements
If your first language is not English, and your first degree was not in the English medium, then you must provide evidence of your competence in English Language before you can register for a course at Keele. Students who do not quite meet English language requirements can take Summer School English courses.
Pre-Arrival Information
Once you have accepted the unconditional offer of a place at keele, or met the conditions of any offer, then you will be sent pre-arrival information by the Postgraduate Office. We will start to send this out in July. In addition, your department will contact you about starting your course and any preparations you need to make. Some departments ask students to arrive early, and the actual date of your arrival will be determined by your department.
