Students with Families

Moving to another country can be difficult but it is even harder if you are bringing your family. We will make every effort to meet the requirements of students with families, whether staying for a whole semester or full academic year.

If you are coming to Keele with your family we recommend that you arrive on your own so that you can view the wide range of properties that are available (some will be off campus). We can reserve you a room in our short stay accommodation whilst you look for off campus accommodation.  You can then arrange for the rest of the family to arrive later.  The Student Accommodation Office can assist with all of this.   All accommodation is subject to availability.

What is available?

1 night – 2 weeks

Short Stay accommodation (whilst you look for a more permanent home)

Lindsay Lodge

Keele Management Centre (KMC)

Bed and breakfast is available from £40 - £45 per night, depending on the room type and length of stay. Prices are reviewed on 1st August each year.

Off campus hotels – there is a variety of hotels in the local area to meet your budget. Prices vary from £30 - £95 depending on the quality of the accommodation and length of stay. The Student Accommodation Office can book external hotel accommodation on your behalf.

6 months and longer

University Accommodation – please contact the Student Accommodation Office for further information on the availability of accommodation for families.

For either one semester or the academic year - one or two bedroom furnished flats/houses within the halls of residence.  Shorter occupancies are available, subject to availability.   Prices start at £140 per week.   You will need to pay a deposit and make a payment towards your first instalment.

Off campus properties – accommodation in the local area varies in price from £220 to £850 per calendar depending on the quality of the accommodation. Prices do not include utilities or Council Tax. We can provide information on the local area and assist with appointments to meet landlords/Letting Agents.

There are a range of properties available from apartments/flats – houses and shared houses and many of these are in the town of Newcastle (under-Lyme) or the neighbouring villages which are a short bus journey from the university.  Newcastle is a small market town with its own cinema, shops, restaurants and supermarkets.   For more information please see Living Off Campus.

Payment

University Accommodation (including KMC) – Payable in advance (via credit or debit card).

Off campus accommodation – we can help to arrange this but this must be paid direct by you to the Landlord or Letting Agent.  Most Lettings Agents or Landlords will require an advance payment and if visiting from overseas this will be easier to arrange whilst you are here.
