Drug & Substance Abuse
Your safety and welfare is a priority. Fortunately, this campus is comparatively safe and we have very few serious incidents. The abuse of drink and drugs can, however, cause serious harm to both a student’s health and, also, cause major disruption to those living close to someone who is abusing these substances.
Drug abuse is treated very seriously for these reasons and we aim to ensure that you are able to enjoy social life in the halls and maintain your studies. We liaise with the police on such matters and also have links to point students with such problems to suitable support networks both within and outside the University.
If you think that someone in your block is taking or dealing in drugs, you can let the University know, without coming to staff direct. Just complete the Drug & Substance Abuse form. This information is confidential and will be used to identify patterns of use in an accommodation block. It will not be passed to anyone other than the Police. They will not directly use it in any investigation.
If you prefer, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or use their secure online form available.

Use of drugs in the halls is a breach of the terms and conditions of your Accommodation Licence. If you are found to have breached the Halls Rules which form part of the terms and conditions, the University may terminate your Accommodation Licence.
